How To : Festive Tealight Holder | DIY

It's nearly Christmas and there's nothing more that gets me into the Christmas spirit than some good old DIY decorations. This year I am loving candles so I thought I would show you how to make this festive tea light holder that I have created!

You Will Need:

A jar big enough to hold 3 tea light candles,

Sellotape,

3 (new) tealights,

Some green, red and white acrylic paint, some newspaper and thin, medium and thick paintbrushes.

Let's Get Started!

So firstly, you will need to put a large dollop of red paint onto a paint plate (or anything you can wash paint off of).

Next you need to take three strips of sellotape and put them evenly on the jar with gaps in between the different strips. You then need to paint all over the jar including the tape and apply a few layers, however not too many as you want the red to show when the candles are lit. You then need to leave it to dry preferably over night.

When the paint has properly dryed. You can take the strips of sellotape of carefully. It is important that you do it carefully as some of the paint that is on the jar may come off with the tape.

Taking a small amount of green paint, put it on the paint plate.

On the red strips on the jar, you can draw whatever festive shape you want, but I decided to draw some cute Christmas trees. I painted two trees on each strip of red paint on the jar.

Next to the Christmas tree, I painted snowflakes using the white paint. I again, painted two snowflakes on each stripe. (You might be able to tell I love snow!)

Then, underneath the snowflake, I wrote some 'Ho Ho Ho's. I again did tow on each red strip using the same white paint.

Now all of the festive painting is done!

Next, I decided to paint the lid using some more red paint but that is optional! I did a couple of layers of paint to match the paint on the jar.

Now all that was left to do was put the tea light candles in ...

, and light them.

This is perfect for a cold winters evening on the mantelpiece or in your bedroom and us a great gift or decoration for anyone. I hope you enjoy creading this, and if you do, be sure to send me a picture of the finished result!

What's your favourite thing to do in the run up to Christmas?
